Providing you Clinical Best Practices – All from Home

‍Today’s healthcare landscape is transforming to meet our needs. As life gets busier, and technology advances, the way we diagnose and treat some medical conditions is evolving. Virtual visits are now commonly for many conditions, yet many people aren’t sure if conditions like sleep apnea are treatable virtually.

GEM SLEEP is a virtual solution that transforms how people access care for sleep apnea, making it possible to diagnose and treat the condition quickly entirely from home. The GEM SLEEP experience ensures patients receive high-quality, compliant, patient-centered care from screening to treatment to ongoing coaching support. This comprehensive care process improves long-term sleep outcomes and allows the patient quicker access to treatment/visits.

What is the GEM SLEEP Experience?

At GEM SLEEP, we combine clinical best practices with virtual tools to shorten the timeframe to treatment and improve the patient experience. All aspects of the patient journey provide high-quality care at a lower cost than the traditional care path, all while offering in-network insurance coverage.  Specifically, the GEM SLEEP experience:

  • Provides easy access to sleep apnea testing, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Helps you navigate insurance coverage or provide alternative payment options
  • Offers you licensed clinical oversight and coaching virtually.
  • Gives you a one-stop-shop solution for the entire journey, including purchasing CPAP treatment options and supplies.

What Happens During a Virtual Visit?

Virtual visits with GEM SLEEP licensed clinicians provide you with high-quality care, clear explanations, treatment options, and coaching throughout your journey, all in one place – your home.

Better sleep is possible. The GEM SLEEP experience serves the following key purposes:

  • Ensure you meet health and insurance criteria for testing and treatment.
  • Provide a medical appropriateness check before testing.
  • Provide clinical interpretation of your home sleep test and treatment decision support after testing.
  • Offer you dedicated time with a clinician to ask questions and understand your next steps.

The required virtual visit schedule home sleep testing is as follows:

1. The Sleep Intake Visit (Before shipping your home sleep test (HST))

Any patient who wants to use insurance benefits must complete this visit. The visit may not be required for patients opting to self-pay for the home sleep test. Some states require this visit regardless of payment options. GEM SLEEP will notify you if this visit is required at check-out.

The Sleep Intake Visit takes about 10 minutes and includes:

  • Verification that a home sleep test is clinically appropriate based on your sleep quiz results
  • Review of symptoms and medical history.
  • Time to ask questions about sleep concerns.
  • Approval for your HST order, which ships after the visit.

This visit is important to ensure insurance compliance for sleep testing and if diagnosed with sleep apnea, future CPAP coverage. In addition, it provides the clinical foundation for an accurate diagnosis.

2. The Sleep Results and Treatment Plan Visit (After taking the HST)

All patients who want to use insurance benefits for treatment must complete this visit. GEM recommends everyone schedules a visit, however if someone does not have OSA, this is optional.

The Sleep Results and Treatment Plan Visit takes about 15 minutes. The clinician will:

  • Review and provide an explanation of your HST results
  • Provide feedback on your diagnosis
  • Present a personalized treatment plan
  • Issue a prescription if you have OSA
  • Give you time to ask questions

This visit helps you start therapy with clarity and confidence. If you have OSA, both visits are required by insurance before CPAP or other OSA treatment can be considered for coverage.

Who Reviews my Results? Are they Licensed?

At GEM SLEEP, licensed clinical providers, who meet all credentialing requirements to interpret sleep studies, review home sleep tests. Once the sleep testing is complete, patients are notified and can view the results or download them from their secure patient portal.

Patients meet with a clinician to review results and get a recommended and personalized treatment plan. We take pride in ensuring accuracy, data privacy, and adherence to HIPAA guidelines. GEM SLEEP’s high-touch, high-tech process gives you access to clinicians who answer your questions and offer you the support you need to treat sleep apnea successfully, all from your own home.

Coaching Support – Why it Makes a Difference

The GEM SLEEP standard experience doesn’t just stop at diagnosis and treatment. GEM knows the journey to better sleep often comes with frustration and challenges. To help jump start success, GEM patients receive ongoing support from a dedicated sleep coach. GEM SLEEP Coaches help:

  • Offer personalized advice and motivation throughout the treatment journey
